Teeth Hurt!

Another blog entry made at 32,000 feet so I apologize in advance for bad spelling as I type this on my PDA.

This week little Miss Emily cut her first top tooth. We were starting to wonder if she'd ever get top teeth. Our daycare lady informed us she took 2 steps last week. We tried to get her to do it again but she's not a performing monkey and we assume she'll show us any day now. For now she prefers to crawl everywhere.

She points at things and when we ask her where her tummy is, she pats her stomach. Best of all, when we ask for a kiss she opens her mouth, leans in and gives us a wet one. She's doing wonderful.

In other news... We're expecting #2! Baby #2 is a surprise blessing, we couldn't be more thrilled. We're about 13 weeks along. Jennifer is dealing with some morning sickness but other than that, things are good. We find out the sex on June 2nd. Boy... Girl... Doesn't matter to me. If I was a beating man, I'd put money on PINK but who knows.

That's all for now.

Walking with help...

I have to get on the ball.  I looked at the blog today and it’s been well over a month since I made an entry.  Life’s good.  Emily celebrated her 1st birthday two weeks ago.  She had a great time.  I plan on adding pictures soon; I’ve just been so busy I haven’t had the time.

Emily starting walking with help today from one of her toys, it’s absolutely adorable.

That’s all for now, more to come and pictures… I promise.

Cold and Flu Season

Cold and flu season has hit our family hard. A few weeks ago I had a touch of the flu.  Last week both Jennifer and Emily were sick and to top things off, Emily had a nasty fever yesterday.  Everyone is on the mend so things are looking up.

Emily continues to crawl like crazy.  She pulls herself up with both our ottoman and couch.  She also babbles like crazy, it looks like we have a talker.  Would you expect anything less?  Look at her daddy!

I learned a hard lesson this week.  When you have a large opening in need of a baby gate expect to pay BIG!  We're making final touches to our baby proofing but Emily still finds a way to get into things and she seems to find any crumb on the floor.  She like a mini vacuum cleaner!

She continues to be adorable.  Keep tuned here for more pictures coming soon.

Saying goodbye to an old friend...

It was a sad weekend as we said goodbye to Ollie.  We adopted our dog Ollie 3 years ago from a shelter.  Over the past few years we've worked to rehabilitate him.  Unfortunately, last week he took a snap at Emily.  He thankfully didn't break the skin but scratched her forehead a bit.  This is just the beginning of "the curious years" and a warning to us as parents.  I'd like to make excuses or find reason but I can't. I only see my baby girl, the innocence of her curiosity and the fact that my dog lashed out at her.

Auntie Kate, Grandma and Grandpa George offered to adopt OllieOllie now shares 3 acres with their dog Maggie.  Maggie and Ollie have spent lots of time together over the past few years and they adore each other.  We got an update last night from Grandma and Grandpa and apparently Ollie is having a great time in his new home.

We're saddened to say goodbye to Ollie but overjoyed he'll remain in our family and with people that love and want the best for him.

On a happier note, I snapped some pictures of Emily this weekend for your enjoyment.

Enjoy: Link to new pictures!

We see a tooth!

This just in!!!  About 48 hours ago we caught our first glimpse of a little white tooth peeking through a tiny hole in Emily's gums.  She's been in good spirits but a little crankier at night.  No new pictures (bad Daddy) as of yet.

Baby Proofing Has Begun...

So now that Emily is "super crawling" we are faced with the challenge of baby proofing.  We've started with some small things but Emily seems to have taken a liking to my home theater setup.

Tomorrow me and Jennifer will be making a few trips to Lowe's to created a baby friendly Plexiglases sheild for my electronics.

Where are your teeth?

This free moment brought to you by Southwest Airlines.  I submit this blog entry from Terminal A in Sacramento California as I wait for my outbound flight to Las Vegas.

A LOT has happened since my last entry.  On December 26th, 2007, Emily decided she had enough of the "combat crawl" and decided to take her first try at crawling.  Since then it's like someone has flipped a switch on her.  She is into EVERYTHING and she has taken a liking to Daddy's home theater system (I'm so proud).  She continues to babbled and smile like crazy.  The one thing we don't have is teeth.

On January 15th, Emily will be 10 months old yet no teeth.  If I have to feed her mash potatoes and cream corn until the end of time, I'm OK with that.  A pretty blue eyed girl with no teeth might even keep her from dating until 28 so again, more pluses than minuses with this whole "lack of teeth" thing.

Time to head to the gate, hope you enjoyed this quick entry.

It's begging to look a lot like...

...crawling.  Emily now gets herself on all fours and wants to crawl but just hasn't figured out that if she moves everything in sequence she'll do it.  So the daunting task of baby proofing the house begins of which I am not looking forward to.

Thanks Giving came and went.  We both gave thanks to God for our beautiful little girl.  We spent the holiday with my sister and extended family (the Frizzell's) in Lake Tahoe.  It was Emily's first trip to the snow (kinda).  Not a lot of snow to be found though we did find some of the "man made kind" at Squaw Valley.  Emily seemed to be very curious and maybe a bit taken aback by snow.  I've posted pictures on the website http://www.jenandmike.com/photos.html

We've been all about home improvements lately.  We just finished tiling our kitchen floor thanks to some help from one of my coworkers.  Tiling wasn't nearly as hard as I anticipated it would be but VERY messy.  We did it in our spare time so it took about 2 weekends.  Since I am such a novice, I'm certain I slowed down the process.  Regardless it turned out AMAZING.  I'll have pictures of it soon.

With home improvement projects under our belt we get ready for Christmas.  We order new customized stockings with our names on them and we'll be heading up to the mountains this weekend to cut down a Christmas Tree (pictures to come).  I'm hoping to get the Christmas lights on the house this weekend because I know I'm going to blink and then it's going to be December 24th.

We're spending our first Christmas at home with Emily.  Grandma and Grandpa will be coming to town in a few weeks so that will add to the excitement.  Thats all for now, thanks for reading.

Almost crawling...

This free momet brought to you by my lunch break. It's only a matter of time before Emily starts to crawl. The past few days she has learned that she can lift her upper and lower body at the same time. All she has to do now is get everything moving together and BLAMO, she'll be crawling.

This of course presents an entirely new challenge for day. The joy of baby proofing the house!

On a separate note, Jennifer and I finally tiled our kitchen floor. We used 18in by 18in Travertine tiles (I'll have pictures online soon)... It looks awesome! Emily loves the new floor too so all is well other then her newest cold.

Wednesday marks Emily's second trip. We'll be spending Thanksgiving in Lake Tahoe. Emily already told me that she misses Grandma and Grandpa. I promised her she'd see them again soon. That's all for now.

Back from Southern California

We're back from Southern California. Emily had a wonderful time with Grandma and Grandpa.  Mom and Dad had a fun time at Disneyland even though we missed our little girl.

I uploaded some pictures this morning.  A few weeks ago we took Emily to the Guinness world record holding largest corn maze in Dixon, CA.

I also uploaded pictures from Halloween of our Pumpkin and pumkins.  Hope you enjoy.
